Announcing the AccessArt Cloud

We're very excited about AccessArt Cloud.  AccessArt Cloud is a place which benefits us all: teachers, learners, creative practitioners - and AccessArt too.

AccessArt Cloud is about creating symbiotic relationships. It connects creators, consumers, educators and learners in a loop which sustains and inspires us all.

What is it & How does it work?
Put simply: artists donate artwork to AccessArt; AccessArt sells the work and promotes the artist; funds from the sale help keep the AccessArt learning resources free to learners and teachers.

Tell me more...
Creative practitioners of all kinds, all ages, all backgrounds, are invited to donate a piece of artwork to AccessArt. The piece might be a drawing, painting, collage, design, sketchbook (page or whole), or textile... AccessArt then creates a web page within the AccessArt Cloud to promote the artist and sell the work.

How do I benefit?
Artists benefit through exposure. You make a a gift to AccessArt (registered UK Charity) of a small artwork, and AccessArt says thank you by providing publicity and promotion via a web page we will create for you in the AccessArt Cloud, which can contain links to personal blogs, websites, galleries, services etc - whatever you want. AccessArt receives tens of thousands of visitors every month, and we hope we can push some of these your way. In this climate we know artists value exposure, and a sense of community which comes from being part of a valued team.

Consumers benefit through the purchase of exciting and original artwork at very accessible prices. Our intention is to create tiered pricing for the work we sell, starting at only £5 and going no higher than £40. We realise the real value of the artwork is far beyond these amounts, but the notion behind AccessArt Cloud is that we create a market which turns round quickly, generates small amounts of money often, and offers consumers an exciting introduction and opportunity to buy original art.

Educators and learners benefit because the income raised through the AccessArt Cloud will help cover our basic costs, and help keep AccessArt free for users.

Who can donate/submit artwork?
Anyone. Professional creative practitioners, students, amateurs, and children. We invite anyone who has used the resources AccessArt has produced, or values the work we do, to consider donating a piece of your work.
AccessArt reserves the right not to feature work within the cloud - our audience includes children and vulnerable adults and therefore work which we deem to be inappropriate will not be featured.

How do I submit artwork?
Firstly the art you are donating must be yours, or you must have been given permission to donate the work.  Art can be submitted at anytime, and should be sent to:

AccessArt, 6 West Street, Comberton, Cambridge CB23 7DS

Artwork can be any size, and take any format, though we particularly welcome work under A2 size (with no lower size limit). Work can be mounted, BUT MUST NOT BE FRAMED.

When will the Cloud begin?
The Cloud will be launched at http://www.accessart.org.uk/cloud in November 2009
