For: Artists, early years practitioners, heads of centres, cultural managers, local authority advisors, early years professionals, arts or cultural organisations

Programme:

10.00 Earlyarts Welcome, including an introduction to your regional pathfinders followed by Interactive Walking Tour of Manchester Art Gallery with Alex Thorp Family learning manager – includes highlighting galleries, sessions and resources available for families, Q&A

11.00 Successful Strategies for engaging parents three short case studies highlighting tried and tested strategies for engaging parents:

Lea Johnson - Museum of Science and Industry outreach/visits to MOSI to develop treasure baskets with parents and staff at Whalley Range Children’s centre for use in new atelier space project.

Jan Nettleton - Parental Engagement Sessions with Mansamitra South Asian Arts Company at Martenscroft Children’s Centre.

Novae Lee, Whitworth Art Gallery - Summer family trails in Whitworth Park and activities in the art gallery – engaging local families (TBC)

12.00 Earlyarts Knowledge and Speed Networking Latest publications, research, national initiatives

12.30 Networking LUNCH please bring packed lunch or money for the cafe; tea and coffee available from 1pm

1.30 Skills-based workshops these sessions will run concurrently, giving you the opportunity to experience both. Each workshop will last approx. 1 hour.

Workshop 1 Manchester Art Gallery Mini Art Club workshop for practitioners led by Michiko Fuji - 1 hour

Workshop 2 Dance workshop led by Manasamitra South Asian arts company
