9.30 am – 3.30 pm (Coffee available from 9.00am, please bring your own lunch)

Theme: Art from Natural Materials

For: Artists, early years practitioners, heads of centres, cultural managers, local authority advisors, early years professionals, arts or cultural organisations.

Programme:

9.00  Coffee/tea/refreshments

9.30 Earlyarts Welcome… introduction to the day

10.00 Workshop Session 1… including coffee

o Sarah Hayes (Please click and follow the link to ‘Twigtwisters’) – creating sculptures from natural resources, using the outdoors to harness creative learning

12.00 Networking Lunch and tour of host organisation.

Beeston Castle Outdoor Education Centre – frequently used by Key Stage 1 children as a residential centre, may also be used for day visits as a base for the castle, has a large, secure outdoor area and classroom space.

13.00 Workshop Session 2

o Sarah Hayes (‘Twigtwisters’) – using natural resources in an Early Years setting

14.00 Sharing Experiences learning journeys and delivery plans, feedback and action planning.

Dates of next Professional Development Days

14.30 Beeston Castle… English Heritage have offered Earlyarts delegates a free tour of the castle in order to discover how this beautiful resource may be used as a venue to allow children the opportunity to explore their understanding of times past and interpreting historical artefacts and structures on their own level.

It is a ten minute walk to the Castle, there is a car park adjacent to the site which is pay and display.
