10:00 Welcome and Introductions
Welcome to the day by Rosie Marcus, North West Director CapeUK. Introduction from Bolton Early Years Improvement Team. Earlyarts knowledge session.
10:30 Practical Workshop
Ammie Flaxen, visual artist and Early Years Arts Consultant, facilitates creative ways of engaging parents and approaches to building relationships in which different languages and home cultures are used as positives
12.00 Networking
LUNCH (please bring a packed lunch or you can use the centre’s cafe or nearby sandwich shops)
12:45 Sharing What Works Best
A group activity to pool participants’ knowledge of family engagement projects and share challenges and successes
13:30 Case Studies of Successful Family Engagement Through the Arts
Three short and lively presentations showing different creative approaches to working with families and staff, from storytelling and visual arts to creative CPD sessions for classroom teachers and activities for dads
14:45 Refreshments
15:00 Summary of day, forthcoming events and evaluation

Good opportunity to find out about the diversity of provision for early years. Great to enter into serious dialogue about an area that is too often considered too juvenile for meaningful discussion. Excellent opportunity to meet people in interesting and related fields. Also good that this is happening in the North and accessible by public transport.
