Safeguarding Policies, Recruitment and the ISA

What do arts organisations have to do? TiPP is pleased to announce a series of half day training seminars that will focus on assisting arts organisations to prepare themselves for the changes in approaches to recruitment and vetting demanded by the Independent Safeguarding Authority.

The half day seminars will be delivered via a mixture of presentation, participatory exercises and group discussion and will address the following questions:

  • How might the work of the recently established Independent Safeguarding Authority impact upon arts organisations?
  • How do arts organisations effectively orientate their policies and approaches within the new legislative framework?
  • What is expected of the Designated Person?
  • What is a safeguarding policy and how does it differ from a child protection policy?

Please be aware, these training events assume that organisations already have a working Child Protection Policy (or similar) in place and are specifically aimed at company Designated Persons.

Where and When:

  • Wednesday 14th April, York Railway Museum
  • Thursday 15th April, Liverpool NOVAS Centre
  • Thursday 6th May, ACE Offices, Dewsbury
  • Friday 7th May, Dukes Playhouse, Lancaster
  • Wednesday 12th May, The Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama, Manchester

Seminars will run 1.30pm - 5.30pm
Cost - £20 per delegate

Places on each seminar are limited and demand is expected to be high, so please book as soon as possible.

The seminars will be led by TiPP's Director, Simon Ruding. Simon is a regional Keeping Arts Safe advisor, safeguarding trainer for ITC and is a consultant and trainer for Stockport Children's Workforce Development Team and Stockport Surestart.
