Early Years Foundation Stage Consultation

Earlyarts has submitted their response to the revised Early Years Foundation Stage and we thought you might like to have a look.

Whilst we welcome the increased focus on some areas of learning, we are particularly concerned about the messages suggesting the primary purpose of the EYFS in supporting a child’s first years in life is to help prepare them for school.

We are also concerned about the lack of reference to the important place of creative processes and environments to enable strong dispositions for learning to be nurtured.

Finally, our third main point is around the need for more recognition, especially in the current climate, of the huge potential for partnerships with the arts and cultural sector to enable learning across all areas to happen to the highest possible quality.

We welcome you to download, read, digest and reflect any of these messages in your own submission. The consultation documents can be downloaded here and the deadline is 30th September.

Please write your submission in your own words, but feel free to draw upon these ideas which are the culmination of much consultation with Earlyarts members in the arts, cultural and early years sectors. The more people who put across these ideas, the stronger the voice of the network to help influence the revised EYFS so that we can nurture what our children are really capable of.
