Museums, libraries and archives are involved in many of the activities outlined in the recent Learning Revolution policy which creatively encourage families to learn together and develop confidence in adults to continuing their own learning.

The aim of this event is to strengthen and develop effective working partnerships between both sectors, focusing on how we can work together to embed and sustain family learning using museums, libraries and archives to deliver family learning courses and adult literacy, language and numeracy skills of adults.

There will be an opportunity to explore the Family Engagement Typology and to take away a copy of ‘Developing and Supporting Family Learning in Museums & Galleries’, a practical guide developed by NIACE in collaboration with Renaissance NW Early Years & Family Learning programme.

The event aims to:

  • provide an update of recent policy and links to other agendas
  • develop closer and long term partnerships between museums, libraries and archives and family learning teams.
  • create more family learning opportunities for more families.
  • demonstrate and share effective collaborative practice
  • network and share ideas and ways of working in partnership.
