Creative thinking is a capacity that we can all develop and has the potential to transform our lives. The government's ambitious strategy to make ‘personalisation' a reality for children and young people in England is set out in the Gilbert Report, 2020 Vision. The goals, which include giving children a voice and supporting individual competence, have still to be fully implemented, yet schools themselves are unleashing their own positive energy to develop more creative learning communities. We plan to offer a forum for these schools to collaborate, network and seek out each other's intelligent and creative action. This ‘wisdom of crowds' will enable people directly involved in working with children and young people to identify their own capacity to effect positive change and create a contemporary, world class curriculum - a curriculum that respects the powerful and creative capacities of children and young people.

Mercury News (Silicon Valley, CA), 25th April 2008
In Soquel, CA, parents and other relatives volunteer to fill the arts education gap for students at Main Street School. "Although some are not artistically inclined, 45 relatives of the elementary school's budding Kahlos and Van Goghs have volunteered to teach detailed painting, drawing and other artistic endeavours as a supplement to basic classroom art instruction. . . . Volunteers participating in the Art Docent program are trained in a standards-based curriculum focused on sequential learning that takes children on an artistic journey from drawing basic shapes in kindergarten to rendering still-life paintings of fruit in the fourth grade and detailed black-and-white pencil drawings the next year. Not only do the children benefit from a high- quality arts education at little cost to the school, but relatives get to spend time in the classroom and learn a few things about how to express themselves creatively, as well."
